- 1 Cup Flour
- 1 Cup Granulated sugar
- 2 Tsp Baking powder
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 3/4 Cup Milk
- 5 Cups Frozen or fresh cherries
- 3/4 Cup Granulated sugar
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 4 Tbsp Cherry Balsamic vinegar
- 2 Tsp Cornstarch
- 1/2 Cup Flour
- 1/2 Cup Brown sugar
- 6 Tbsp Softened butter
Instructions
- For the Cherry Filling: Measure our 5 cups of frozen or fresh cherries into a sauce pan, along with the sugar and salt, then heat over medium high heat until warm. Next mix the Cherry Balsamic with the cornstarch until the cornstarch is completely mixed in and add to the saucepan. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the cherry mixture slightly thinkens.
- During this cooking time slightly smash the cherries as they are cooking. Slice out 6 tablespoons of butter into a 9 x 13 dish and slice up the butter into it. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. and put the baking dish inside the oven while it's warming up to melt the butter. While the butter is warming make the batter by mixing together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, and then add the milk and stir until combined.
- Pull out the warmed butter dish out of the oven and pour the batter mixture into it. After spreading the batter in the dish add dollops of cherry filling around the dish until full.
- Next make the crumble by warming the remaining butter if not already softened. Note* the butter should be soft but still together not melted. Using a fork poke and mix the cumble together making sure not to stir. you want the cumble to be chunky and not smooth. Add crumble on top of cherries and bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown. Serve with scoops of icecream and enjoy!
